About

Periodontal Treatment

Periodontal disease is the leading cause of adult tooth loss in Canada. Catch it early and it's reversible. Catch it late and it's still manageable — Stadium Dental's hygiene team builds a staged plan around your specific case.

Mild gingivitis is reversible with thorough scaling, an improved home-care routine, and a 3-month re-care visit. Most patients see bleeding stop within 2 weeks.

Moderate periodontitis is treated with scaling and root planing (a 'deep cleaning') under local anaesthetic, often spread over two visits. We re-measure pocket depths at 6 weeks and adjust the maintenance interval.

Severe cases or rapidly progressing disease are co-managed with a periodontist for site-specific surgical or laser therapy. Stadium Dental coordinates the referral and direct-bills both providers.

Periodontal Treatment · FAQ

Common questions about periodontal treatment at Stadium Dental in Edmonton.

  1. No. Healthy gums don't bleed. Mild bleeding usually means early gingivitis and reverses with two weeks of better brushing and flossing. Persistent bleeding is the cue to book a check-up.

  2. One to two visits, 60–90 minutes each, with the mouth split into halves or quarters and frozen with local anaesthetic. Most patients are back to normal eating the same day.
