About

Sedation Dentistry

Dental anxiety is incredibly common and completely manageable. Stadium Dental offers three tiers of sedation so you can be as relaxed (or fully unaware) as you want for any procedure.

Nitrous oxide ('laughing gas') is the lightest tier — you stay fully awake, breathing the gas through a soft nasal mask. Effects start in minutes and clear within minutes after the mask comes off. Safe to drive yourself home.

Oral sedation is a single pre-visit pill that puts you in a deeply relaxed, conscious state. You'll remember little of the procedure. You'll need a driver to and from the appointment.

IV sedation is the deepest option, administered by an anesthesia-trained dentist. You stay technically conscious but typically remember nothing. Best for longer surgical visits or severely anxious patients.

Sedation Dentistry · FAQ

Common questions about sedation dentistry at Stadium Dental in Edmonton.

  1. Not with nitrous or oral sedation — you stay conscious and responsive, just deeply relaxed. IV sedation can be titrated deep enough that most patients have no memory of the procedure.

  2. Yes. Nitrous oxide and carefully dosed oral sedation are both common in pediatric dentistry. We thoroughly screen medical history before any sedated visit.
