Modern root canal treatment is comfortable, predictable, and saves the natural tooth — far better than the reputation it has from a generation ago.
About
Root Canal Therapy
If a tooth has deep decay, a fracture, or trauma that's reached the nerve, root canal therapy removes the infected tissue, disinfects the canals, and seals the tooth so it can be saved with a crown.
Most root canals at Stadium Dental are completed in one or two visits, with full local anaesthetic. The tooth is isolated with a rubber dam, the inflamed nerve tissue is removed, and the canals are shaped, irrigated, and filled with a biocompatible material.
Recovery is usually mild — most patients are back to normal eating within 24 hours. A crown is placed on the treated tooth at a follow-up visit to protect the now-brittle tooth from fracturing.
Stadium Dental fees stay below the Alberta Dental Fee Guide on every root canal. Most extended dental plans cover RCT at 80%, and we direct-bill the carrier.

Root Canal Therapy · FAQ
Common questions about root canal therapy at Stadium Dental in Edmonton.
Modern root canals are no more uncomfortable than a filling. The pain you may have had before treatment goes away as the procedure progresses.
Sometimes. But replacing a missing tooth with an implant or bridge is more expensive and more invasive than saving the natural tooth with a root canal and a crown. We discuss both options at the assessment.
