About

Sleep Apnea & Snore Guards

If you snore loudly or stop breathing in your sleep, a custom mandibular-advancement appliance from Stadium Dental can be life-changing — and life-extending — for the right patient.

Mandibular-advancement devices (MADs) are dental-fitted appliances that hold the lower jaw slightly forward through the night, keeping the soft tissues at the back of the throat from collapsing into the airway.

We co-manage every sleep-apnea case with a sleep physician — diagnosis comes from a sleep study, not a dentist, and severe cases need CPAP, not an oral appliance. For mild-to-moderate apnea or pure snoring, however, the appliance is dramatically more tolerable than CPAP and most patients use it nightly.

Most extended dental plans cover oral sleep appliances at 50–80% with a sleep-study report. Stadium Dental direct-bills your plan and submits the pre-determination first.

Sleep Apnea & Snore Guards · FAQ

Common questions about sleep apnea & snore guards at Stadium Dental in Edmonton.

  1. Yes for sleep apnea. A sleep physician's diagnosis is required for the appliance to be covered by insurance and for us to know whether an oral device is appropriate (vs. CPAP).

  2. If a sleep study has ruled out apnea, a snore guard works similarly and is a much simpler approval process. Stadium Dental fits both.
